Wow, I’ve been quiet! Here’s a good reason….

Hi! Its been ages – sorry :( I’m not the best at this blogging thing, but I know you all like a good read. Especially about other peoples projects and adventures and boy do I have a good one!

Well, I took a couple of weeks off BB from custom orders and completed this. I have been not liking our couch for a long time. We bought it after our first born from Dare Gallery and we loved it. Chocolate brown swede. Lovely at the time, but simply awful with now 3 children. Yes, I am a neat freak, I like clean spaces and no mess, so I was struggling with this couch daily.

BEFORE

We’re about to do a 1 bedroom and carport extension so a few extra grand for a couch was not the priority, so I decided I’d re-cover. Well, what a job! We literally took the whole thing apart, one at a time, pulling off the under cover, taking off the steel legs and unscrewing the arms from the body. I loved doing the first 2 singles, but was completely over it by the time I did the 2.5 seater. BUT! I completed it and we love it! We’ve change our colours in the lounge to suite, bringing in yellows and oranges to lift the blue/steel/grey fabric in the couch which are very in vogue at the moment.

AFTER

So, if you are wondering what I am doing between building stock and completing custom designs, I’m hopefully sitting on this sweet as looking couch!…doubt it ;)

Just add upholsterer to my name!

A sneak of our new Nursery Linen Collections…

I am squealing with excitement!  I adore this new range, Mustard Blossom, and I am so thrilled with how it came out from our shoot on Monday.  It’s certainly a range for the modern mummy, with it’s stunning colour palate.  The lemon, grey and white tones just ooze elegance, perfect for a boy or girl.
I am in love with all of them actually!  I’m just so excited with our new simple, stunning looks.

We have 3 other new ranges Teal Flourish, Sweet Butterfly (above) and Red & Navy Stars. They will hopefully be released by the end of the week.  We are introducing more modern mummy prints into our range and will be focusing on complimenting the rest of the home with our choice of new fabrics.
All Fleecys are backed with Certified Cotton Organic Fleece, using 100% cotton and our eco fill cushion inserts.
Sooo exciting!

Run 4 Kids

We did it! Run for the kids fun run was yesterday – Sunday 1st April. A whopping 33,000 attended the 2 events and an awesome 1.65 million dollars was raised for the Royal Children’s Hospital.
Above is a pic of my running partner Sam and I, and the girls that did the 5,2km event from our Run With Life running group.
We had a great day, the atmosphere was incredible, the run was fun and we were all happy with our times. I ran 5.2kms in 31minutes averaging pace – 6mins per km. I’m sure we would have finished 4-5 minutes earlier if we didn’t have to dart around the walkers and not come to halts from the crowd, but overall it was a great day and fun it was!
Here is a pic of all of us from the Run With Life crew minus a few. The others did the 14.3km run, something I wish I just jumped in and booked for, but next time…

Next up we have the Mothers Day Classic in May – 8kms
How are your fitness goals going? I hope your inspired!

New design Nappy Wallet & Change mats

We have re-designed our Nappy Wallet and Change mats.

After many requests as to why we didn’t have the mat attached, I figured I may as well! The handy factor of putting it all into one made perfect sense and it looks like such a neat little compact mummy bag. I have also attached a strap on the left side to hang the wallet on your wrist as you grab your newborn or toddler for a quick ‘on the go’ change.

The waterproof mat is padded for comfort, wraps around the denim wallet and clips closed using 2 secure snaps. The wallet fits 2-3 nappies, case of wipes and cream comfortably.

I have 2 of the designs above available, otherwise the wallet comes in all our fabrics under ‘Nursery Linen Collections’ and our 3 polka dot designs.

Available online soon for $45.00 plus postage.

New fabric designs coming!

We’re pretty excited to say we have 2 of our new collections here. Sweet Butterfly and Red & Navy Stars are nearly ready to go.  Sneaky peaks above!

Another 2 coming our way is Mustard Blossom and Teal Flourish which I am soooo excited about! I can’t wait to get my hot little hands on these ranges.
If you haven’t noticed already we will be taking Boondie baby linen down a slightly different path, going back to the modern mummy prints. Our desire is to create that little haven that mums love hanging out in too, using fabrics you would have in your home, on your own bed, creating that chic nursery for the super modern bub!
We have another photo shoot booked for mid April, so if we’re a little quiet, you know it’s loud here as we’re sewing away :)
Happy Friday,

Power from the mind and body.

I want more strength, I want more power.  Now when I say this, I mean power over my mind and power and strength from within my body.  I feel like I’m tired a lot of the time, but I’m pleased to say this is improving. (meanwhile as I write this, I’m fighting the flu :( )
My husband and I made the decision about 6 weeks ago to step it up, get better, be better.
I have recently taken up running again.  About 2 years ago, I used to run 5km 3 times a week really comfortably and was on the right path to keep increasing.  We were also planning another baby and of course when I conceived I stopped due to medical reasons.  I would have loved to keep going, but the safety of my baby came first.
Anyway, I’m back on track, better late than never.  I’ll be 32 this year, I’m not over weight so I’m not doing it for weight loss.  I weight 58kgs at the moment and my height is 170cm, so not bad, but I want strength.  I work busy long hrs being a mum of 3 and keeping up with Boondie Baby, so doing something like this is so good for my mind too.

At the moment, I have been running around 4km 3 times a week and one of those sessions is with a running crew called ‘Run for Life’.  Mel the instructor is hot – I don’t really know her yet, but she has strength, she is toned, she has that power, that bounce in her step and she can talk while running – to me that says a lot!
Also in the group is my good friend Sam, who I run with most of the time, we are at about the same level so great for encouragement and running along side each other.  We’re both getting better slowly – we both love it and will stick at it. Then there is Lauren.  I don’t know her that well, but I’m sure I will soon.

Lauren has come a long way and is such an encouragement to many people.  She has lost 38+kgs and is strong.  Last running session, we did 1km reps and Loz was running ahead of me, I could see her the whole way.  I had sore knees, was hot, tired, I so could have stopped, but Loz was still running and all I had in my mind was this girl has changed! This girl has stuck to it and made that difference and you can see it, inside and out.  So, thinking of her as I was running, I was not going to walk.  My journey is nothing like hers, quite easy actually, so what a weak thing I was if I stopped!  So good on you Loz and thanks for the encouragement! ;)  You can read about her journey ‘Live Free’ and get inspired here
Also, My husband has jumped right back into mountain bike riding.  He always has ridden, but lately more frequently, which is good and I know he’s feeling better for it – Riding roughly 25km 3 times a week.  He has even registered for the Wombat 100

So here’s my plan, I am running the ‘Run for kids’ in April, the 5.5km run, I would have loved to do the 14km, but I left the prep time a little short and I’d rather not get an injury!
I want to run comfortably again, run and talk, run and recover while running, have that lean/fit body I Ioved wearing back then, have that strength and power from within.
I am going to run 10km 3 times a week by the time I am 32 which is June 19th.
I am going to eat well – fresh, clean healthy food.
I am going to drink at least 2 litres of water per day
and most importantly, I am going to feel good – full of power and strength.

I encourage you to find that something that you love too and be that better stronger you.
Here’s to a fit 2012

A little project for me

It’s not often I get to stop and think about the projects I’d like to do in our home, little lone the time to complete them in one session! BUT! Over our Christmas holidays when we return from our trip, I sat down and completed these gorgeous 4 cushions for our lounge room using the one and only Ink & Spindle. I bought the fabrics ages ago when I went to one of Lara and Teegs open days. You can read about that here.

Aren’t they gorgeous! Here they are above in their right spots. All 4 cushions covers are removable via zips and I used oversized cushion inserts to make them lovely and plump.
It feel good to have them complete and giving our lounge a burst of colour.
What are you creating for your home?

Summer holidays are simply the best!

Summer holidays go way to fast. It seems like I finished work yesterday and now I’m getting it all up and running again. I love what I do, but I love holidays with my family too, especially Christmas Summer ones.
I thought I’d share a few special pics of our family over our break.

We traveled up the coast to Robe in SA with my mum and dad, their gorgeous dog Zac (a cream lab) and my family of 5. It was brilliant!
It was all last minute, but so good. We hired some ‘left over’ caravans, that fitted us perfectly and off we went. We bush or ocean camped it every night, so no craziness of caravan parks, swam everyday and showered in only cold water! Bliss…
I hope you all managed to spend some time with the ones you love the most too.
Welcome to 2012!

Have a lovely Christmas!

Another year has gone!  My babies are one year older, I’m coming into my 10th year of marriage with my most favorite person and I’ve had Boondie Baby up and running for 1 whole year as of January.
I have finished, finalised invoices and sent all remaining orders, so I can now switch off, be a mum and wife again full time until at least January 10. So exciting!
I’ve been overwhelmed by the demand and interest on my Boondie Baby brand, so I will be forever grateful on how well our first year of business has been. Now it’s time for a, well I think, a well deserved break with my family!
We’re also so aware of the fact that our middle baby, Mia, is starting school next year (!!!!) and she is in need of some good quality time from her mummy over this break. Mia has been hanging to start school with her brother for as long as I can remember and I can’t believe how quick that time has come.  Jay did 2 years of 4 yr old Kinder ( Feb baby) so it seemed like we had a lot longer to prepare. Mias year just flew, so it seems school has come around so much quicker. I have mixed emotions as I will be so much more productive and (hopefully) balanced, but I sit and wonder – Have I had enough time with her? Have I made the most of these years? I hope I have.
Different parts of this year has come with it’s struggles and pains too. We had close people pass away, friendships end, then sad repercussions, but I believe we are doing our best to wipe these events, forgive and moved on. Enjoy a fresh start in 2012.
So for now, I am signing out until early January. I’m doing a big tidy up and I’m going to enjoy a lovely clean work space.
Thank you all again for following, recommending, buying, stocking and most importantly loving our Boondie baby range as much as you have – It’s been an overwhelming ride so far!
Much love from my family to yours and once again -
